Butterfly House in Bannerghatta, Karnataka : Photo Blog
21 km from Bangalore is the popular destination Bannerghatta located in a scenic environ. It houses the lion and tiger safari’s in addition to snake and crocodile farms.
One of the new attractions here is the Butterfly park which is a combined effort from the Zoo authority,University of Agricultural Sciences and the ATREE. It is spread over an area of 7.5 acres with a conservatory, museum and an audio-visual room.
My kids loved this place and spent quite some time in there. This would be a perfect place to take children for a one day trip combining the safaris and the Zoo’s too.
Here are all the photographs from there:
The conservatory is a circular enclosure of about 10,000 sq ft with 20 species of butterfly set in a tropical, humid environment very well made.
Indoors there are museums exhibiting butterflies, their life cycle and other diorama’s, in addition to the audio-visual room for educational tours.

Hi Blizz,
Enjoyed the photo blog. Reminded me of my childhood when I used to look for coccoons under oleander leaves in our yard, gently pluck the leaf and bring it in and save it inside a soap box. What a wonderous sight it was when the butterfly finally emerged within a day or two! I would then take the box out to the veranda and watch the butterfly stretch its magnificent wings and fly into the sunshine.
We have a butterfly house in the tropical section of the zoo here in Calgary. It is always a pleasure to take young children for a visit there.

Thanks EW,
See those butterflies wouldn't stop flutttering around..typical of them ...they wouldn't sit for too long on a bush. By the time i got my camera in focus they would take off again...
It was hard clicking them...so I gave up after a while :) :)
Thank You!

Hi maria_m
Thanks for liking the pictures...Was it you who had put up pictures of glass butterflies a long time back?? or someone else?
The caterpillar is part of the exhibit showing all the life cycle etc...They have done a great job with the place.. The butterflies were fluttering around ..about 20 species..They need to get more..
Thank You!
